SMA Behavioral Healthcare
Act Corporation
Daytona Beach, Florida
Act Corporation, a private, not-for-profit company, was originally chartered in 1965 under the name Guidance Center. Funds, which became available in 1963 through the Community Mental Health Centers Act, made it possible for the founders to construct and open the nation's third community mental health center. As a provider of community based behavioral health care, the agency has developed programs specifically aimed at individuals who are severely mentally ill, in addition to a wide range of outpatient services geared towards the wider community.
Act Corporation is accredited by the Commission of Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities. Services are funded in part by Department of Children and Families, Florida Department of Corrections, Department of Juvenile Justice, and the Counties of Volusia and Flagler.
Access Center staff are trained mental health specialists who are able to handle emergencies, refer to other community resources and set up initial visits to Act programs.
Managing Care
Throughout treatment, interventions and activities are carefully planned to ensure the best possible outcome of treatment. Individuals are seen in the most appropriate, least restrictive environment so that the most effective level of services are provided.
