Our History
Hilldrup was founded in 1903 by Mr. R. G. Hilldrup as a horse and carriage operation serving Fredericksburg, Virginia. Charles B. McDaniel purchased the company in 1940 and expanded the household goods moving and storage services. Hilldrup became a part of the United Van Lines agency family in 1964, allowing us to extend our service capabilities worldwide. In 1976, Charles G. McDaniel became only the third president of Hilldrup, and is credited for the remarkable growth of the organization over the next 29 years. Today, Hilldrup is one of the largest and the most honored agencies for United Van Lines, the largest van line in the world.
