Since 1890, Oklahoma State University has strived to fulfill its mandate of openness, accessibility and service to residents of Oklahoma and the global community.
As Oklahoma's flagship land-grant university, OSU serves more than 32,000 students on five campuses in four cities - Stillwater, Oklahoma City, Tulsa and Okmulgee. OSU medical students attend the Center for Veterinary Health Sciences in Stillwater and the Center for Health Sciences in Tulsa. OSU offers a complete range of degrees, from B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. to DVM and D.O., as well as technical degrees and professional training.
OSU is a Truman Honor Institution, and OSU students also regularly win prestigious Gates/Cambridge, Goldwater, Udall, Marshall and Rhodes scholarships. OSU hosts more than 1,400 valedictorians, and The Princeton Review named OSU one of the best higher educational institutions in the western United States.
OSU research creates new technologies, high-tech companies and quality jobs in key areas such as sensor research, biosafety and homeland security. OSU sensors and sensor-related technology transfer has contributed to a phenomenal 187-percent increase in license income from all OSU technologies.
OSU's participation in the Oklahoma Technology and Research Park encourages interdisciplinary research among various scholarly and business entities. Students, faculty and commercial clients collaborate in new specialized labs in OSU's Venture I building.
In addition, OSU boasts Oklahoma's highest concentration of biosafety labs where research involving chemical and biological sensors will help secure the nation against terrorist attacks and will leverage additional federal funding for Oklahoma.
OSU's statewide presence also includes a network of agricultural experiment stations and extension offices. OSU's Division of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources works side-by-side with Oklahoma residents to address local issues and concerns. OSU's Applications Engineering Program helps small rural manufacturers create solutions for production problems, compliance issues and other situations.
OSU outreach services range from educational opportunities for government employees through the Center for Local Government Technology to therapy for families and couples through the Center for Family Services. Internationally known leaders address current issues with state business leaders during OSU's annual speakers forums. OSU faculty in the speech-pathology clinic mentor students and treat people with speech and hearing disorders.
OSU endeavors to achieve greatness by contributing to economic development through sharing university "know-how," building entrepreneurial strengths and participating in regional strategic alliances that create jobs and wealth for the citizens of Oklahoma.
