Affinity Consulting Group, Inc. - A leading provider of Nationwide Direct Hire Professional level Recruiting and Staffing Services is looking for a Purchasing Agent – for one our clients with offices located in Northern Ohio.

Duties:
- Develops and/or sources products that support the Company's marketing objectives and meet gross margin targets for the Direct Response, Retail and Grocery Products divisions while maintaining the Company's quality standards. Obtains competitive bids from vendors.
- Negotiates pricing, terms, freight, marketing funds, and rebates to meet Company's long and short term objectives and gross margin initiatives.
- Analyzes data to identify trends and opportunities to reduce cost and increase efficiencies. Monitors commodity markets to time buys effectively.
- Works closely with marketing groups to source goods for year-round and seasonal gifting as well as with Product Development personnel to develop new products for all business units. Keeps abreast of industry trends and communicates to marketing groups.
- Ensures accuracy of all product item information in the Company's inventory system for all facilities. Analyzes data from inventory control system and all other sources to determine proper inventory levels and distribution to all facilities. Ensures accurate and timely delivery of product with a minimum of excess inventory or disruption of the Company's production schedule.
- Initiates purchase orders and executes follow-up to ensure timely delivery. Maintains frequent communications with suppliers to ensure all delivery date objectives are met.
- Ensures goods, when required, meet Federal, state and/or local regulations. Assures all goods meet the Company's quality standards and ingredient specifications.
- Procures product samples from vendors for the Direct Marketing, Retail, GPD, and Graphics departments, as needed.
- Assists the Quality Assurance Manager in developing and maintaining product specifications for all products purchased. Travels to vendor facility, as needed, to assure product quality before shipment.
- Evaluates vendor performance (i.e., quality of product, on-time delivery). Adheres to Company policies as identified in the employee handbook, including Purchasing Policy and Codes of Conduct, etc.). Conducts annual vendor reviews.
- Local/Overnight travel is minimal to vendor facilities, trade shows, competition and educational seminars, when needed.
- Provides other duties as necessary.
Education and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university and minimum two years' food buying experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Ability to define problems, collects data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
- Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conforms to prescribed style and format.
- Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.
