Summary:
The Oracle Database Administrator interfaces with the Systems Analysts, Programmers/Developers, and other DBAs to translate the data needs and requirements of the application into the production environment. Identifies locations of data, tuning of data servers, system access and security profiles, and the overall operation of the application in the enterprise environment. The DBA also participates in the rollout plan to ensure all tasks necessary for bringing the data on-line are achieved. The tasks will address data importing and exporting, data scrubbing and cleaning, data conversion and configuration, as well as system testing and integrity checks on the data.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The Oracle DBA will provide operational support in an Oracle Database, Application Server and RAC environment.
- You will also be responsible for developing and executing database project plans and maintaining databases using various applications.
- Install, test, tune, and refine databases ensuring security and stability. Document database structures, processes, and performance modifications.
- Interact with users to establish requirements and to produce test data and scenarios.
- Database administration including:
- Loading and managing data
- User access
- Performance monitoring/tuning
- Data integrity
- Backup, recovery and disaster recovery plans and user support.
- Plan, execute and maintain database capacity
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Ability to perform Duties as described
- 5 years experience as an Oracle DBA (min 3 years with 10G)
- Bachelor's Degree in Computers, MIS or equivalent
- Solid skills in database performance factors
- Monitoring tools and tuning complex queries
- Strong database management skills
- Knowledge of fault detection and resolution processes
- PL/SQL and database design; scripting and automating tasks, ETL processes
- DBMS, DML (SQL), DDL, utilities, services, troubleshooting, architecture, syntax
- Strong knowledge of Linux
- Strong written and verbal communications skills.
- Performance tuning, change and troubleshooting experience is required along with root cause determination and analysis skills.
Pluses:
- Experience with Insurance and Billing systems/applications.
