Jig Shop / Die Maintenance Technician

I. JOB SUMMARY
 
 Responsible for the maintenance of the press, injection molding and die cast dies by preparing and keeping them operational during production in compliance with the Quality Management System. Also responsible for all machinist, welding and fabrications needs for the entire plant.
 
 
 
II. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
 
·         Responsible for repairing and maintaining die cast, press and mold dies to blueprint specifications.
·         Set up, operate and perform preventive maintenance on the equipment in the machine shop.
·         Maintains good communication with team members and other related internal departments.
·         Maintains 5’s Standards.
·         Maintain logbook and flow charts on die repairs.
·         Weld and restore damaged parts from production lines and dies.
·         Fabricate parts as requested by blue prints for production.
·         Assist with Kaizen ideas for productions lines and TIE Dept.
·         Fabricate fixtures as requested by Production and TIE Depts.
·         Make in-house spare parts for dies and the supply room.
 
 
III. SCOPE OF JOB
 
·         Requires involvement with related internal departments and outside resources as needed.
·         Requires teamwork and participation in Employee Involvement and the Quality and Environmental Management System.
·         Works in an environment with minimal supervision.
·         Requires shift work and overtime.
·         Other duties as required.
 
 
IV. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
 
·         High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
·         Must have proficient knowledge and be able to effectively operate all machine shop equipment such as lathes, mills, surface grinders, etc.
·         Must be able to effectively communicate with team members.
·         Previous experience in a manufacturing environment with related specialized training.
·         Must have proficient knowledge of measuring instruments and blueprints.
·         Must have proficient mathematics skills.
·         Refer to Physical Essential Job Function manual.
 
 
V. QUALITY/ENVIRONMENTAL ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
·         Understand your job responsibilities to perform, monitor and control the process.
·         Follow all procedures and work instructions pertaining to your assignment and make recommendations to the Team Leader to improve the process.
·         Responsibility and authority to initiate action to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformity by identifying and recording any problems relating to the product, process, and quality systems.
·         Implement solutions agreed upon as well as controlling further processing, delivery or installation of non-conforming products until the deficiency or unsatisfactory condition has been corrected.
·         Notify management immediately when problems of non-conformance are detected.
·         This position shall initiate, recommend or provide solutions through the Team Leader.
·         Learn, understand, communicate and practice the Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
·         Play an active role in achieving and maintaining the Quality and Environmental Management Systems.
