Education Requirements: A degree from an accredited US college or university is required.
This position provides first-level support for a global law firm`s automated docket and calendar system and procedures in California, and for California state and federal cases, including routine data entry and daily maintenance and communications to case teams.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Determines docket dates from court documents and correspondence and ensures appropriate entry of data in the docket.
Ensures the daily preparation and distribution of reports from the docketing system including weekly attorney deadlines reports and other case-specific reports as needed.
Provides necessary support and oversight for information workflows related to scheduling, calendaring, and procedures in litigation matters in California offices, and as needed for firm attorneys in other offices handling matters in California state and federal courts.
Evaluates processes and recommends improvements to the current systems and procedures related to docketing for California cases.
Responds to requests related to litigation scheduling, court rules, etc., from attorneys and staff working on California cases.
Provides first-level support for California state and federal ECF and other pleadings and court papers filing, and case record file access and administration.
As available, provides support for general paralegal tasks in the California offices.
Perform other duties as assigned by firm management.
At least two years of docketing or similar litigation calendar experience at an AM LAW 100 or 200 firm in CA.
Working knowledge of applicable California and Federal court rules, including local rules of the various courts in California.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal skills, and a strong service orientation; excellent oral and written communication skills.
Hands-on experience with and strong working knowledge of the CompuLaw system.
Ability to work under pressure and a willingness to work reasonable overtime as needed.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
Prior experience as a paralegal is a plus.
