Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in English or related field with tutoring/teaching writing experience. Master's degree from an accredited institution in English or related field.
Preferred Qualifications
Special Instructions to Applicants Anticipated hours of operation for the Writing Center will be Monday/Wednesday 10 am - 5 pm; Tuesday/Thursday 10 am - 6 pm; Friday 10 am - 4 pm. Hours will be 10 - 20 hours per week depending on needs of the dept.
This is a temporary non-benefit earning position.

Job Description
Writing Consultants help FGCU students develop and enhance their writing and documentation skills. Writing Consultants work with FGCU students in all disciplines and at all levels and assist writers at any stage in the writing process, helping them to generate ideas, write thesis statements, develop body paragraphs, and write effective introductions and conclusions. Writing Consultants also assist students with strategies for improving their proofreading and editing skills and help writers learn how to document sources.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Thorough knowledge of the English language and outstanding interpersonal skills. The ability to explain concepts effectively and to work with students from diverse cultural backgrounds and levels of academic preparation is essential. Writing Consultants must possess excellent communication skills and knowledge of MS Word. Previous writing tutoring or teaching experience is required. Familiarity with a variety of research documentation formats (MLA, APA, and Chicago/Turabian) is a plus.
