Duties: Examines, diagnoses, manages, and treats a full range of eye and visual problems and ocular diseases, to include the application of advanced instrumentation, optometric procedures and techniques, with an emphasis on therapeutic/diagnostic pharmaceutical drugs in the care of visual and ocular anomalies.
Treats cases involving ocular pathology and injury.
Performs other duties as assigned.
About the Position:

Basic Requirements: Licensure: Must possess Current license to practice optometry in a State, DC, or a territory of the United States. Degree: Must possess a Doctor of Optometry (O.D.)
Additional Requirements for Non-Research Grades GS-11 & Above:
For GS-11: One year of professional optometrist experience equivalent to at least GS-9 that demonstrated the ability to perform the work of the position to be filled. For example, for industrial optometrists, the applicants experience must have demonstrated skill in developing or applying methods, procedures, or devices for protection of employees engaged in eye-hazardous work.
For GS-12: One year of professional optometrist experience equivalent to at least GS-11 that demonstrated the ability to perform the work of the position to be filled. For example, for industrial optometrists, the applicants experience must have demonstrated skill in administering an industrial optometry program in an industrial activity requiring the development of new methods, procedures, or devices for protection employees engaged in eye-hazardous work.
For GS-13 and above: One year of professional optometrist experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
Basic eligibility will be rated based upon the experience, education & training described in your resume. Factors such as recency of experience/education and relevance of experience/education to the work of the position will be used.
