Job Description:
The Audiologist works under the supervision of Service Leader - Retail Services. Responsible for audiological evaluation, patient consultation, fitting of amplification devices, and treatment of communication disorders. Responsible for all necessary documentation as required by accepted medical guidelines.

Performs other duties as assigned.

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Employees in this position perform the following technical competencies:
Evaluates patient's auditory status.

Establishes goals that maximize the patient's recovery.

Plans a treatment program, using appropriate treatment procedures that will accomplish the established goals.

Treats patient deficits consistent with approved treatment procedures.

Records patient progress data and treatment procedures used.

Fits hearing aids and repairs, etc., if appropriate.

Maintains proper operating status of equipment.

Consults in staff meetings, family conferences, and/or interdisciplinary team meetings.

Addresses the general public on matters pertaining to the profession.

Participates in continual process improvement.

Job Qualifications:
EDUCATION: Master's or Audiology Doctorate degree from accredited institution in audiology.

LICENSURE: Licensure in audiology in State of Missouri; completion of certificate of clinical competence. BLS certification.

EXPERIENCE: Five years hospital andor clinic experience in audiology.

ESSENTIAL TECHNICAL/MOTOR SKILLS: Fine motor skills required, eyehand coordination, walk, ability to speak clearly, hear answer phone, data entry

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS: Displays a friendly, positive attitude and communicates with patients, families, physicians and co-workers in a professional manner. Ability to communicate in verbally and written.

ESSENTIAL PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Must move, kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, stand, push, pull, and lift. Must follow good body mechanics.

ESSENTIAL MENTAL ABILITIES: Ability to collect thorough information regarding patient's condition and evaluate effects of care; must be able to visually inspect patient's condition. Problem solve, manipulate numbers, adaptability, interpret data, calculate, comprehend, understand, explain, assess, evaluate short term and long term memory.

ESSENTIAL SENSORY REQUIREMENTS: Ability to visually assess patient condition; must be able to communicate with patient in order to assess condition and evaluate effects of care. Visual, hearing, feeling, smell.

EXPOSURE TO HAZARDS: Infection/disease exposure from patients, visitors, and co-workers. Body fluids.
