Salary: $45,000-$48,000 USD Annually

Hours: 40 hours per week, Schedule may vary based on case load. Generally between 9am-7pm Monday-Friday

Position Title: Mobility Mentor

Supervisor: Senior Director of Boston Housing Authority Economic Mobility Project


Responsibilities:

We are looking for experienced human service providers for the role of Mobility Mentor in the new Boston Housing Authority Economic Mobility Project (temporary name); a large and institutionally significant demonstration project providing Mobility Mentoring, an internationally recognized economic coaching approach, to 200-400 residents of the Boston Housing Authority.

  • Support advancement on all five pillars of the Bride to Self-Sufficiency (family support, health & wellness, finances, education and career)
  • Provide one to one Mobility Mentoring coaching and goal setting, specifically around goals related to promoting economic mobility, which includes housing, budgeting, career and education, child care, health care, and more.
  • Conduct detailed assessments, monitor, and document participants progress according to individual plans.
  • Regular and careful tracking and data entry for internal and external research.
  • Participate in the development and facilitation of participants workshops and community groups.
  • Foster the development of community in a constantly changing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required
  • Experience or training in human services coaching
  • Must be able to manage a case load of up to 35 participants effectively and efficiently
  • Cultural competency and sensitivity with groups and individuals representing a variety of needs, abilities, and socioeconomic backgrounds.
  • Ability to respond flexibly to a fluid and evolving program environment.
  • Strong time management, organizational skills, and attention to detail
  • Excellent computer skills, including data entry
  • Basic knowledge of principles of community organizing, service coordination, and advocacy to initiate/coordinate service delivery and follow-up services.
  • Basic knowledge of workforce development, economic literacy, education and career exploration.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with partners, colleagues and participants
  • Connections to community resources and institutions within area of expertise is a plus
  • Proficiency in Spanish, Mandarin and/or Cantonese required

Working Conditions:

Position includes walking, sitting, some bending, stooping and stretching. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard, photocopier, telephone, calculator and other office equipment. Work may be stressful at times. Ability to follow verbal and written instructions. Ability to communicate effectively with staff and participants. Ability to travel around Boston in personal car or public transit.
