Job Description
Assistant professor in speech communication with an emphasis on oral communication across the disciplines. Will teach undergraduate courses in oral communication including public speaking, persuasion, oral communication for the classroom teacher and professional speaking; will also occasionally teach a graduate course in oral communication instruction and will have an opportunity to develop undergraduate and graduate courses that engage the challenges of communicating expert knowledge as necessary for public deliberation. Candidate will also work with Interdisciplinary Graduate Studies students as well as students in the MA and Ph.D. program in Rhetoric and Professional Communication.
We seek a colleague engaged in qualitative or humanistic research examining oral communication instruction across the curriculum, the intersections of oral communication and new communication technologies, and the critical rhetorical skills needed to share technical information with non-expert audiences. This context provides rich opportunities for research and collaboration. 2/2 teaching load to begin.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in the field of speech communications or related field and experience in teaching public speaking at the college level.
Preferred Qualifications
Publication preferred.
