BRIEF DESCRIPTION
The Assistant Director reports to the Director and participates fully as part of the Graduate Admissions team. The Assistant Director is primarily responsible for effectively increasing enrollment in on-campus graduate degree and certificate programs at Marygrove College to achieve the desired new student enrollment goals identified in the Marygrove College Strategic Plan by establishing and maintaining relationships with potential students, from inquiry through matriculation. The Assistant Director works with faculty coordinators and appropriate Marygrove College staff members on issues of outreach, marketing, and admissions to ensure steady enrollment growth in all on-campus graduate programs.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Director of Admissions in developing graduate recruitment strategies to achieve the desired new student enrollment goals identified in the Marygrove College Strategic Plan, identifying target audiences, and ensuring program awareness.
Generate new leads/inquiries through graduate recruitment efforts including information sessions, open houses, graduate fairs, corporate/community education fairs, campus and community events, and other activities associated with successful recruiting practices in coordination with the Director of Admissions.
Develop a thorough understanding of general College admission policies and each graduate program’s admission requirements and curriculum.
Track the application materials and monitor the application process for all applicants and new students. This includes gathering and documenting materials, and communicating with applicants and faculty to determine the status of applications.
Follow up through the year on missing prerequisites, transcripts, and certifications.
Develop and maintain relationships with business and educational institutions to assist in graduate student identification for degree programs and certificates.
Conduct visits to community and educational agencies to provide current information on graduate academic programs available at Marygrove College, admission procedures and entrance requirements.
Coordinate and plan graduate recruitment events and oversee the staff preparation in these events related to target student recruitment.
Build strong working relationships with key internal stakeholders (all academic areas representing the graduate programs, Registrar, Enrollment Center, and student services) to resolve interdepartmental issues and secure appropriate resources and commitments.
Develop and submit an activity calendar specifying events and projects to be undertaken each year from July 1 to June 30.
Submit weekly reports/summaries on graduate recruitment and outreach activities including visits, campus tours, office appointments, special programs and activities, committee meetings, workshops, and conferences.
Perform other duties from time to time as determined by the Director of Admissions.
Understand the college’s mission; implement and abide by college policies.
Required Qualifications
At least three years of full-time experience in higher education working with adult students, preferably in Admissions, or other recruiting setting.
Bachelor’s degree required; Masters Degree preferred.
Respect for confidentiality in regards to student data.
Self-starter with the ability to take initiative and work with minimal supervision.
Background knowledge of the admissions process.
Outstanding customer service and relationship management skills.
Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Exceptional organizational and problem solving skills.
Outstanding ability to work in a highly interactive setting, serving and working with a culturally diverse population of students and staff.
Computer literate in Microsoft Word and Excel and technological ability to learn the College’s database system, Datatel.
Valid driver’s license and vehicle available for recruitment travel.
Available for regular evening and weekend hours, programs and activities.
