Description
Responsibilities :
To perform testing and other quality control functions required for efficient operation of the production facilities. This includes support for the process and finished product testing.
List of Principal Activities :
1. Perform chemical tests required for raw material acceptance and auditing, process control and finished product testing through the use of standard techniques and procedures.
2. Communicate actively with process control and other personnel to ensure that they have the information needed to control the process.
3. Provide support for solving problems which may arise in the areas of production, safety or the environment. This may include special testing of non-routine process samples.
4. Work on special projects, including but not limited to, setting up new test methods and instruments, writing and updating procedures and work methods, performing assessments, participating in crosschecks and participating on work teams.
5. Write detailed reports on projects and assist in formal presentations.
6. Maintain laboratory and instruments in working order and verify accuracy through a metrology program.
7. Order supplies needed for laboratory operation.
8. Participate in a support role for the Emergency Response Team.
9. Provide on the job training for other employees as needed.
10. Complies with the policies, documents, procedures, and work instructions of both the Quality and Environmental Management Systems, and performs these responsibilities in a safe manner.
11. Work a rotating shift schedule to ensure that the facility has 24 hour Chemist coverage.
Requirements:
BA or BS in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering
2 or more years lab experience in industry
