Department Description: ONEOK Interstate Pipelines
Brief Description
Support GIS asset data software applications and programs to create and maintain data and maps combined with geographically referenced data to aid in business development, compliance, engineering, operations and right-of-way operations for pipeline facilities.
Detailed Description
Generates, with the use of ESRI or other standard database system, data from multiple sources in order to develop or maintain the following but not limited too: standard and adhoc map production, maintenance of GIS data, one-call reporting, tax rendering, operations permit filing, and DOT and state regulatory reporting.
Provides assistance with data research, collection, and documentation including but not limited to conversion of spatial data between software/hardware platforms, migration of data from one data source to a new source, and the creation and definition of feature classes, attributes and domains in applicable database.
Assists with testing and documentation of transition of data, testing and implementation of new tools and systems, and integration of GIS with other work processes.
Monitors and/or maintains work processor and system capabilities as related to GIS applications.
Provides GIS training and technical support to field analysts and other GIS users.
Provides assistance in updating technical guidelines for work processes, quality assurance programs, standards and procedures to ensure compliance.
Provides direction and oversight to contractors. Provides information and assistance to external contacts including engineering, survey companies and one-call vendors.
Actively participates in industry user groups and associations in order to stay current with related GIS technology, recommend system enhancements, and accomplish company objectives.
Job Requirements
Experience required in the following areas:
Associates degree in GIS or related field preferred or equivalent GIS-related experience.
Demonstrated ability in comprehending, reading, following and documenting regulatory requirements for pipeline industry, including company standards and procedures and regulatory compliance.
Demonstrated ability in application of GIS-related software such as ESRI.
Working knowledge or training including but not limited to:
coordinate systems and map projections
develop and format standard databases
model GIS data
utilize GIS systems for transmission pipelines
integrate GPS and analyze data
source, acquisition, projection or reprojection, accuracy, quality, and storage (such as image catalogs, Arc Server, SDE Images) of aerial photography
utilize corridor type linear referencing
Working knowledge in integrating outside data and systems into ESRI or other database system, including but not limited to: flow modeling, compliance systems, measurement data, well information, third party data, document management, cad packages, and GIS viewers.
Knowledge of enhanced query capabilities and scripting using VBScript, HTML, XML, SQL or other type of programming languages.
Demonstrated ability in reading, interpreting, and/or preparing written information including but not limited to: right-of-way information, maps, blueprints, and legal descriptions.
Application of trigonometric, geometric and algebraic formulas and decimals and percentages.
