Position exists to directly interface with customers in a manner instilling technical and manufacturing confidence for RB Royal as a solution provider.  This includes the oversight of all aspects of the sales procedure ultimately related to a customer generated Request for Quote and the resulting transactions once a PO for such has been generated.   



Position works to improve/establish brand recognition for RB Royal through sales related activities including a working understanding of general design, company competencies and standard manufacturing capabilities.


Review incoming requests for quotations along with general and sales related inquiries.  Relevant actions required include interpretation and initiation of an appropriate response or forwarding such to the internal individual/department responsible for creating that response. Subsequent to this activity is a formal documented closure to the request either by quote generation and entry into the CRM system or an appropriate response of decline (no quote, request for more design detail, confirmation of EAU, etc.) to the inquirer.  


Maintains an accurate corporate CRM system including current details of quotation generation; updates to associated metrics; and current account contact information.


Works to understand the actual product costing process as the basis for the eventual formal quote to the customer through interaction with Design Engineering, who determines product cost. Works to monitor the progression of the costing process through the RBR system (engineering and accounting) which concludes with this position (shepherds the detail through the cost evaluation loop).  


Upon receipt of approved cost detail generates the formal quote under prescribed guidelines for profitability or in consultation with supervision.  Upon completion forwards the quote to customer and appropriately records in the CRM.     


Contributes to corporate sales and profit goals through vigilant support of corporate commercial policies.


Conducts collective customer pricing exercise on an annual basis as well as targeted scaled versions as directed by supervision. 


Utilizing corporate generated report(s) monitors customer quote aging as well as margin levels by line item and creates an internal RFQ to assure pricing is current per guidelines provided by supervision.  


Liaison with key accounts as assigned for the purpose of providing input to unique solutions for unique issues (account maintenance).  


Provides a source for project management as directed by supervisor.  This may include projects relative to marketing, sales, and assistance with board presentations. 


Communicates with customers by phone, fax, on-line networks or in person, to address issues, clarity of RFQ as well as possible opportunities for expanding sales opportunities.


Assists in marketing projects as directed by supervision. 


Assist in the development of both electronic and physical sales collateral as directed by supervision.


Assists in the coordination of on-site customer and SAR meetings in conjunction with other members of the Sales/marketing Team.


 Monitors market “chatter” for competitors’ activities and communicates information to supervision.


Distribute appropriate sales campaign materials for specific customers and other materials in support of the customer contact.


Congenially communicates with customers by phone, fax, on-line networks or in person, in a manner fostering good will and the potential for repeat business. 


Investigates general customer concerns and brings to satisfactory resolution by following through internal departments of RB Royal as necessary.


Attends trade shows and exhibitions relevant to customer base or as directed.



Strong general computer background including word processing skills in Word and knowledge of Outlook e-mail system; high comfort with Excel sufficient to generate and manipulate typical business related spreadsheets.  Exhibits appropriate assertiveness to assure project completion as well as presenting company position on an issue with the customer.


Meeting management abilities to include the use of agendas, scheduling of meetings, drawing individuals into the meeting and holding participants accountable.  Must be able to assure actions are assigned and followed through.


Solid business relevant written (letters, memos, reports, investigative findings, etc.) and verbal communication skills to include ensuring the information is communicated clearly.  This includes sufficient Power Point capabilities to generate presentations for customers, internal management and peers.


Investigation/information gathering skills including the ability to use effective questioning techniques to gather real information, document facts and obtain agreement of those facts in order to make a recommendation and move a project or process forward.



EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:  Bachelor's Degree in Engineering major from a four year college or university and three years of sales experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Computer literate with Microsoft Suite programs; preference for data base and project management programs as well as some main frame computer familiarity.  Excellent organization skills and the ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the organization as well as customers required.


LANGUAGE SKILLS:  Ability to read and interpret documents such as design prints, product specifications, procedure manuals and technical literature.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.


REASONING ABILITY:  Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.


MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:  Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio and percent and to work with and interpret graphs and other customary business visual aids. 


INQUISITIVE NATURE:  Innate curiosity on how things work, related problems, and the imagination to suggest solutions.  Product design background helpful as is a hands on mentality. 



While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk and/or hear.  The employee is regularly required to stand, walk and sit. In addition the position has related travel making comfort in dealing with various modes of transportation essential.   Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance perception and color vision.
