Job Summary: Responsible for undertaking field assignments to provide customer service in the areas of servicing and inspection of portable and semi-portable fire extinguishers, life saving equipment, fire detection systems, gas detection systems, foam systems, dry chemical systems, navigational aids, and gaseous suppression systems, and other duties involving the Fire Services Department at Total
Safety.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Able to undertake field assignments to provide customer service in the areas of servicing and inspection of the following categories of equipment: portable and semi-portable fire extinguishers, life saving equipment, fire detection systems, gas detection systems, foam systems, dry chemical systems, and gaseous suppression systems.
Be trained in Respiratory Protection and fully certified to wear respiratory breathing equipment if required by Regional Manager, Fire Services.
Acquire and maintain current, licenses and certification necessary to perform assigned responsibilities.
As directed by the Regional Manager, Fire Services be willing to be cross-trained in other disciplines such as inspection, service, and repair of respiratory equipment.
Able to rig-up and use a wide range of safety and rescue equipment including but not limited to winches, tripods, retractable lifelines, harnesses, and lanyards. (Subject to OJT Training)
Operate electronic safety and communications systems including portable gas monitors, hand-held radios, and other related equipment. (Subject to OJT Training)
Responsible for ensuring all documentation associated with assigned tasks is filled out accurately, completely, and turned in for proper invoicing and required copies provided to the customer upon servicing equipment.
Be knowledgeable of all regulatory standards pertaining to your assigned responsibilities; i.e., Local, SOLAS, USCG and NFPA regulations, etc..
Maintains a high state of integrity and professionalism in carrying out the duties and responsibilities of this position.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned by the Operations Manager, Fire Services.
Education & Experience:
Minimum of a High School Diploma or 2 or more years fire systems field level experience in the fire protection, petrochemical, or oil refinery related industry.
Complete a minimum of six weeks in the Total Safety Fire Services Department and satisfactory completion of basic on the job training requirements. (OJT)
Licenses/Certifications:
Have or obtain State Fire "A" License within 6 months of hire date.
Have or obtain State Fire "C" License within 1 year of hire date.
Have or obtain State Fire "D" License within 2 years of hire date.
Respiratory Fit Tested
Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Must occasionally climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally be exposed to wet, hot and/or humid conditions and outside weather conditions. The job activities will require the employee to work in a shop/warehouse environment and/or at customer job site locations. On a call out basis, the employee may be assigned to support field services on an offshore drilling rig.
Compensation/Benefits: Salary is commensurate with experience.
