Description:
Applications are invited for one Assistant Professor or Associate Professor position in Mechanical Engineering at the University of Arkansas with a start date of August 2009. The research area is open. A major research area in the department is in nanotechnology. We are looking to support teaching in the areas of machine design and mechanics. Successful candidates will be expected to develop and teach graduate courses in their research area. This position includes a highly competitive startup package and the potential for an endowed position.
Minimum Requirements:
A PhD degree in Mechanical Engineering or closely related field is required. At the Assistant Professor level successful candidates must have a demonstrated potential for developing a strong and cutting edge research program and a commitment to teaching excellence and student advising. Associate Professor candidates must be of recognized national stature as evidenced by leadership in their field of expertise, publications, professional recognition and external funding.
Preferred Qualifications: We are especially interested in applicants with interdisciplinary or multidisciplinary engineering expertise who can develop collaborations within the College and University. Persons from academia, research labs, or industries are encouraged to apply.
