Introduction
The Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL), a national leader in scientific research and development, located midway between Baltimore and Washington, DC is seeking an Internal Audit Manager.
Responsibilities
Manage and conduct internal audits and reviews of Laboratory operations focused on government contract compliance, business process improvement, and financial systems including IT system controls.
Conduct internal audits and consulting services in areas of contract compliance, business process improvement, and financial controls including IT system controls.
Manage internal auditors during their audit assignments. Provide instruction and guidance as needed to the internal auditors. Edit and sign off on internal audit reports.
Perform other compliance work associated with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR) requirements, Cost Accounting Standards (CAS), and Disclosure Statement revisions.
Prepares and monitors annual audit plan including scheduling assigned staff and hours.
Qualifications
Required: B.S. Accounting, Finance, or equivalent business degree or equivalent years of related professional work experience.
At least 10 years of contracting experience (industry or government) with a minimum of 6 years related experience in audits of both government contract compliance and financial systems.
Demonstrated ability to develop and communicate complete, practical, and clear business advice to senior level management.
Experience independently managing and/or conduct multiple and diverse assignments.
Highly motivated self-starter with excellent analytical and organizational skills and the ability to use judgment to solve complex assignments.
Experience with Microsoft office products including Excel and Word.
Experience working with the FAR and/or CAS.
Desired: Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), or Post graduate business degree.
Managerial experience leading internal audits or projects.
