General Summary:
Under general supervision, performs routine and advanced diagnostic ultrasound procedures at an intermediate to beginning specialist skill level.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are essential job accountabilities:
1 Performs all ultrasound techniques and examinations such as, abdominal scans, retroperitoneal scans, obstetric and gynecology scans, small parts and neonatal head examinations.
2 Schedules cases to coordinate with other patient examinations.
3 Positions and transfers patients safely and comfortably and explains basic procedure.
4 Selects proper technical factors on an individual patient basis.
5 Selects and operates equipment as needed to perform required exams.
6 Maintains equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts outside service for major malfunctions.
7 Prepares and maintains written documentation as required by the profession and the department.

8 Demonstrates knowledge of the principles of growth and development over the life span of the assigned patient population. Assesses and interprets patient age specific data and provides appropriate, age specific treatment. Provides direct patient care to assigned patient age group(s).
9 Demonstrates a commitment to patient, visitor and staff by: complying with all applicable safety regulations; learning the impact of medical errors and methodology that will lead to reduction of errors; reporting actual and potential errors, as well as hazardous conditions; identifying opportunities to standardize processes and "error proof" systems that will lead to increased safety; and participating in safety education programs and root cause analyses as required.
10 Maintains established policies and procedures, objectives, quality assessment, safety, environmental and infection control standards.
11 Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, inservice meetings, and workshops.
12 Maintains records of examination data and other pertinent information on patients.
13 Provides outstanding service to all customers; fosters teamwork; and practices fiscal responsibility through improvement and innovation.
The following are nonessential job accountabilities for ADA purposes:
14 Supervises, assists and evaluates students in the clinical education setting.
15 Develops film through automatic processing.
16 Secures and returns supplies such as film, linens, medicine, patient folders.
17 Attends meetings as required.
Performs other related duties as identified.
Qualifications:
Note: Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.
Minimum Education Associate's Degree
Minimum Experience 2 - 3 years
Req Cert/Registration Registration/license as required
Req Course(s)/Training Accredited program in ultrasound technology
