General Summary:
Under the general supervision of the Supervisor-Biomedical Engineering, repairs, calibrates, tests and maintains a variety of medical and Imaging-related equipment and therapeutic X-ray systems at a beginning to intermediate specialist skills level.
Duties and Responsibilities:
The following are essential job accountabilities:
1 Performs preventative maintenance inspections and electrical safety testing and corrects problems encountered.
2 Analyzes biomedical and imaging equipment for cause(s) of failure. Isolates, tests and replaces defective parts.
3 Uses available test equipment to test functionality of medical and imaging equipment. Troubleshoots problems and repairs the equipment.
4 Makes necessary operational adjustments to medical and imaging equipment. Takes sensitivity, selectivity and accuracy measurements.
5 Responds to emergency calls for medical and imaging equipment. Troubleshoots equipment problems and repairs hardware as needed.
6 Monitors and assists manufacturers as needed to ensure maximum repair efficiency with minimum down time at lowest possible cost.
7 Orders necessary parts and maintains required inventory.
8 Interfaces directly with radiologists, technologists, vendor service engineers and vendor sales representatives.
9 Logs all calls for imaging equipment with the Biomed Response Center.
10 Completes and files all required BRH reports.

14 Assists with care and maintenance of department equipment and supplies.
15 Maintains appropriate records, reports, and files as required.
16 Attends meetings as required.

Qualifications:
Note: Other combinations of formal education, training and experience may be considered.
Minimum Education Associate's Degree
Minimum Experience 4 - 6 years
Physical Demands Heavy physical effort (lift/carry 26 to 50 lbs)
Frequent prolonged standing/walking
Pushes/pulls or moves/lifts heavy equipment/supplies
Working Conditions
Subject to electrical and radiant energy hazards
Exposed to hazards from electrical/mechanical/power equipment
Occasionally subjected to irregular hours
